During October of 2005 it was the premier on Colombian television of the first reality show where talent and singing starred for the first time in the impeccable and elaborate set of ‘El Factor X’, backed up by the original version’s producer himself, Bob Cousins, who followed closely the success that this show brought to our national TV history. After an impressive campaign to raise expectations and a nationwide audition tour, the fascinating competition started where the queen of techno-carrilera Marbelle, leading the group category, musical producer José Gaviria, in charge of contestants from 16 to 24 years old, and singer Juan Carlos Coronel, with those above 25, set out on the task of the exhaustive talent selection among over 45 thousand applicants that responded to the call and presented themselves before the demanding judges. With an average rating of 33.6 points, ‘El Factor X’ became the favorite show of Colombian viewers. Farina, Yina, El Grupo Enygma, Jackson, among other 14 participants, fought for first place with their talent, leaving Julio Meza as the sole winner, lead by his tutor Juan Carlos Coronel. Nowadays, Julio is a well-known singer throughout the entire country with his first album ‘Luchando’ that went platinum.
