Hoping to become the best lawyer and to provide for his family, Santiago Puerta travels to Italy, to study a specialization in Criminology. There, in his same class, he meets Lina Santana, the love of his life. Deeply in love, they decide to move in together and for the next three years they spend the most wonderful time ever, until the day they finish school and decide to come back to Colombia to get marry and share the good news with their families. What they don’t know is that once they arrive, things will not be so easy. Suddenly, their plans of getting married and spending the rest of their lives together seem impossible due to the obstacles that their families put regarding this decision. Rogelio Santana, Lina’s snooty father, is determined to do everything he can to prevent his daughter from marrying Santiago. In the meantime there is also Bernardo Puerta, Santiago’s father, who is now the accountant and the right hand of Richard Calero alias “El Kes, a dangerous gangster who is dedicated to drug dealing and money laundry. When Santiago finds out about the unfortunate situation of his family, he is forced to lie to Lina about his family’s problems and with the strong hope of having a quiet and happy life with her, he initiates a plan to take his family back to the path of “legality”. Therefore, he convinces his father to turn in alias “El Kes” to the authorities, to dismantle his criminal band and to submit to the witness protection program. Although the organization of ‘El Kes falls; the astute gangster manages to escape from the justice, while Santiago disappears along with his family and becomes Esteban Bravo, an under cover agent for a Police Institution. In spite of the distance and the difficulties, the love between the two of them becomes stronger and Lina doesn’t have any other motive to live more than finding her boyfriend. Finally, and thanks to Lina’s intuition, they manage to meet again, but now under the universe of Legal Medicine, being forced to treat each other as if they were strangers and meeting secretly when possible.
